016 – Get Out – House

In which The Lottery sends your hosts to meet the family, and they try to keep their wits about them while discussing GET OUT (2017) & HOUSE (1977). How these troubled secrets and dark histories express themselves is VASTLY different. From the wacky to the disturbing. We dig these movies so it was a tough one.

015 – Godzilla – Nosferatu

In which The Lottery has pitted one lovely giant monster against two incarnations of the same vampire. It’s GODZILLA (1954) against NOSFERATU (1922/1979). Red and Puffer ponder haunted national legacies, re-cut films, long shadows, and the smashing miniature infrastructure. It’s a jolly good time.

014 – Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II – Tucker & Dale vs Evil

In which The Lottery offers up the cheeky side of horror, as Red and Puffer consider the slapstick antics of TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL (2014) & the twisted delights of HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT II (1987). This one was a surprising thinker.

012 – The Ammityville Horror – XX

In which your hosts return to spend some quality time with family by watching, discussing THE AMMITYVILLE HORROR (1979) & XX (2017). Sometimes you have a fun extended clan, and other times you forget how tedious they can be and wish you had stayed at a hotel.

010 Dead Silence – Killer Mermaid

In which your hosts check out super creepy ventriloquist dummy romp DEAD SILENCE (2007) and surprisingly dark slasher-with-a-mermaid tale KILLER MERMAID (2014). We have some fun with camp both intentional and not so intentional. Quite a body count this round.

011 – It Follows – Jennifer’s Body

In which your hosts tinker with the show format, and consider two movies that look at the horror of young adults getting busy, IT FOLLOWS (2014) & JENNIFER’S BODY (2009). We’re probably going to tick off a few listeners with our hot take on the former, but are thrilled about the latter. This is a hot one, folks.

What’s in the Bag? WHAT’S IN THE BAG?!

It was pointed out to us by a friend and listener that it would better if we posted the full list of The Dread Lottery online. Red laughed when I read this suggestion out loud; she was an early proponent of this idea. I don’t know, I guess I reasoned the mystery would be intriguing, give us a reveal or something — honestly I hadn’t thought about it for a while. But, yeah, it makes sense for multiple reasons. I stand corrected.

Since we don’t have a facebook presence, I posted it here.

Current Lottery

I am also going to put up the list of possible titles for the next season (I need to type it up; it’s in the notebook). Some are movies we’ve watched since the lottery filled, and some are movies we want to see again, some are movies we are meaning to watch, some are movies suggested by friends of the show and friends in life. If your favorite horror movie is not on either list, hit us up on Patreon, on the website, on Twitter (@DreadLotteryPod). You can make an account to comment here on the website, but no one does that any more
